Featured Person of the Week: Lenny Tang

Khmer Krom Youth: Lenny TangKhmer Krom Youth: Lenny TangMeet Lenny Tang, one of KKFYC oldest and most dedicated member who has travelled the world in pursuit of human rights and justice on behalf of our Khmer-Krom people living in Kampuchea-Krom.

“I joined KKF in 1997 because I wanted to help our Khmer and Khmer –Krom community to develop our culture and educate our youths,” says Lenny.

In 2009, Lenny spent over 10 months in Thailand to help do the paperwork for over 250 Khmer-Krom refugees including six Khmer-Krom Buddhist monks that were defrocked and imprisoned by Vietnamese Authorities after participating in a peaceful demonstration in 2007 demanding greater religious freedom. “I was very heartbroken when I met our Khmer-Krom monks. The world finally saw the real Vietnam with our case. Vietnam says religious freedom but their country has not improved.”

“You should become involved because you will learn about the real world with a real case study of our Khmer-Krom issues. You will gain life experiences that you will not find at school and be able to proudly represent Khmer-Krom.”

Lenny urges the next Khmer-Krom generation to come together and help Khmer-Krom now, to protect our motherland.

Please join us in saying thank you to Lenny for his time, efforts and dedication to Khmer-Krom!
